ARRL TI-2: Day 1   Leave a comment

I haven’t added it all up, but I went through several new counties in PA and a few in NY on my way to the ARRL Headquarters in Newington, CT. Yesterday was a busy day on the radio.

Today was my first day in the American Radio Relay League – Teacher Institute 2 (ARRL TI-2). We started off the morning with introductions and began work right away on analog to digital conversions. I got a few things figured out, including how to link binary numbers to actual hard data, for my classes, using the provided binary resistor ladder board.

At lunch, I skipped eating and operated as W1AW, pulling in around 26 QSOs on 20 meters. I worked my father, N4ST, and then several other stations in MD, VA, PA, NC, GA, AL, FL, IA, IL, OH, TN and PR.

After lunch, we continued our discussion on analog-to-digital conversion and also talked about some of the donated equipment. We capped off the afternoon by installing all of the required software and playing with thermistors.

Stay tuned, as I will post each day about my happenings at the ARRL Teacher Institute – 2 (ARRL TI-2).

Thank you for reading my post.
