Daily Radio Report: 8/15/15   Leave a comment

I have some troubleshooting that needs to take place on my HF vertical antenna. Right now, I can put an antenna analyzer on it, and, by adjusting the coils, I can get 100 ohms at 14.300 MHz. However, that doesn’t suit me, and it doesn’t seem to suit any combination of radios and antenna tuners I have.

At best, I can hear a few signals, and I can transmit (though I have not made any QSOs or broken any pile ups during the North American QSO Party).

At worst, my rig either sends “SOS” in Morse code, or just powers down if I try to transmit, even if I have run the automatic antenna tuner.

Anyway, I’m sure I have parts of this antenna assembled poorly, so I will take a look at that over the next week.

This afternoon, I also finished up and submitted an article to QST. We’ll see how that goes; I’ve written two articles for them in the past.

Thank you for reading my post.
